Many school pupils will not have had the opportunity to go on a ski trip before, so we understand why teachers are always keen to find beginner friendly resorts. With so many options it can be tricky to choose what is right for your students, so we wanted to share our 3 Top tips…

Our 3 top resorts for beginners in 2022.

Aprica in Italy aprica

Aprica is a great value Italian resort with the tree-lined pistes right on your doorstep. A peaceful and friendly town with a long history of skiing, this well-equipped resort has a friendly feel that’s popular with our groups. Aprica’s extensive village-level nursery slopes are ideal for building confidence in the early stages. With the basics mastered, beginners can use the drags and chairlifts to progress to Aprica’s wide and uncrowded red and black runs. Aprica have been busy investing in their slopes and now have the longest illuminated piste for night skiing in the whole of Europe!  It is from the top of the Baradello area at 1,972 metres all the way back to resort level.

There is plenty to do in resort with a good choice of restaurants, a modern sports centre for swimming and a floodlit ice-rink. There is also a bowling alley down the valley and karaoke and bum-boarding in resort to keep everyone entertained.

The Hotel Roma is a family run hotel set in a prime location, on the main road in Aprica and just a 5 minute walk from the nursery slopes, making it an excellent choice for school groups. The hotel has a large bright dining room and reception area, a spacious games/activity room, a ski storage room and a sociable bar with terrace overlooking the dramatic mountain range.

St Johann in Austria st johann

Give your students an opportunity to experience Austrian culture in this historic market town. St Johann is part pedestrianised which creates a pleasant atmosphere and the relaxed and welcoming vibe is a perfect fit for school groups. The ski slopes face all directions so it’s possible to find good snow in both the morning and late afternoon, the ski runs include 94 blue runs, 59 reds and 17 black runs over the full area, so its ideally suited for beginner and intermediate skiers

The Pension Lacknerhoff is a 3* traditional family-run hotel close to the ski lifts and town centre offering a welcoming and friendly service to our groups - the hotelier really does go above and beyond for our groups. The hotel is set in a semi-rural location just 300m from the nearest ski lift which gives direct access to the ski area. With a capacity of 100 beds, this is perfect for a large group looking for sole occupancy or two smaller groups at one time. Facilities include two dining rooms, a large recreation and games room with TV/video and a tuck shop, plus in-house ski storage with heated boot racks.

Superdevoluy in France superdevoluy

Superdevoluy is a very safe and uncrowded resort that is a perfect choice for school groups. The resort has plenty of beginner friendly runs and has benefited from recent developments of lifts and little to no queuing is now involved. The students first steps on snow can be taken on the nursery slopes in the village centre before progressing onto the green and blue runs that lead back to the hotel.

Chalet Margot is a 3* accommodation is located at the bottom of the slopes offering groups doorstep skiing. The first floor is for school groups only, and there is a separate dining area for the groups so you have your own dedicated area. Hot lunches are provided back at the hotel, which allows students a good break between morning and afternoon lessons. The hotel’s facilities are excellent for our groups, including a games room with table football, pool and table tennis, whilst a sunny terrace offers picturesque views across the resort. There are also spa facilities and bar available for teachers.
