We hope teachers will derive as much enjoyment and satisfaction from the ski course as the pupils. Whether this is your first time taking a school group to the slopes or if you're an experienced party leader, we hope the following information will help you during all stages of your trip.

Free Supervisory Places
Supervision is easier if children are organised in groups of 10 with 1 member of staff to each group. When you book with Equity, you will have 1 free supervisory place for every 10 full paying members by Air and 1 free supervisory place for every 8 full paying members by Coach (prices based on a minimum of 40 paying members).
If you book and confirm 43 full paying passengers and are travelling by coach you are entitled to 6 free supervisory places.
Parents are always welcome to join but we must review the price if they form a greater ratio than 1:8. We will then offer a special quotation based on our Adult Ski Holiday programme.
We recognise that you may have difficulty organising a school ski course due to family commitments so we are pleased to offer concessions to the Party Leader's immediate family.
Promoting your Tour
You will receive comprehensive material that will cover everything you need to launch your school tour. Launch packs include posters, parent/pupil information and details of the proposed ski trip. In addition to all of this you will receive assistance from our experienced team of office staff and we are also happy to offer support with parents’ evenings.
Teachers' Inspection Visits
For many teachers a visit to the resort is an important part of pre-trip preparations and we can make all the arrangements for a preview trip. This could be part of a group or individual visit. How to Book
Booking your school ski trip is simple and straight-forward with Equity.
Once you’ve made an enquiry, you will be provided with a login to MyEquity, which is your online personalised planning hub.
Our unique new teach portal makes booking and planning your trip easier, with everything you need all in one place. Once you’ve requested a quote, you’ll be able to create your account and login as you need. You can access:
- All of your booking details, with clear next steps at each stage of the booking process. When you’re happy with your quote we can make a provisional reservation for you and hold it for two weeks, giving you time to promote your tour and collect deposits
- All your documents centralised, so you won’t have to trawl through your emails
- Your party’s passenger information stored safely, and passenger information spreadsheets can be saved and updated as you go
- Your invoices, payment schedule and statement of account
- Detailed accommodation, resort and piste information
- Promotional materials to launch your trip and attract students
- Local maps and weather reports
- Your Equity contact details are easy to find
You can confirm your booking via the portal along with sending us first deposits. A full party names list is also required at this stage.
Second deposits are due 8 weeks later. Your final payment is due 12 weeks before departure.

Make this your first port of call for pointers when launching your tour within your establishment, whether it’s your first school ski trip or your tenth. We can’t cover all of the hurdles you may encounter, but we have endeavoured to provide answers for the most pressing questions we commonly hear from our Party Leaders, as well as providing materials that can help to save your time.

We recognise the importance of undertaking a pretour inspection visit to your destination in order to risk assess and familiarise yourself with the resort, as such we organise a range of visits throughout the season.
Group Inspection Visits
Hosted by our knowledgeable staff, group inspection visits are a great way to experience a number of resorts and accommodations, swap tips and ideas with other teachers and, of course, ski!
Individual Inspection Visits
Should a group inspection visit not meet your requirements, we can also assist by organising a bespoke trip for you and a colleague. Trips are usually offered over long weekends either before Christmas or during the low season in January and March.
The Alpine Sports Course Leader (ASCL)* Award
A weeklong intensive course which qualifi es successful candidates to lead and supervise a party of their students on snow, without the need for an instructor to be present.
* In order to complete the course you must be a competent skier. It is unlikely that this standard will have been reached with less than 6 weeks skiing experience.
Equity are delighted to assist towards the costs of inspection visits, SCO’s and ASCL’s in order to contribute to the professional development of our Party Leaders. Contributions are offered based on a number of criteria, including the group size, dates of travel, destination and a number of other aspects of your booking. Speak to our team for more details. Please note that whilst we welcome and encourage customers to attend both the ASCL and an inspection visit, we are only able to contribute towards the costs of one trip.

We recognise that travelling on ferries or through airports with large groups can be difficult, and we pay great attention to getting you to and from resort safely, comfortably and efficiently.
From european and transatlantic flights to executive coaches, and channel crossings by ferry or tunnel to Eurostar’s ‘snow train’ from central London to the Alps, every part of your journey is carefully planned, and fully checked to ensure it meets stringent Health and Safety standards laid down by the School Travel Forum. If not, then we don’t use them. It’s as simple as that.
We have a range of season long charter flights from the UK to European airports close to major resorts, but are also happy to find alternative routes on low-cost or scheduled airlines depending on your destination. Our transatlantic flights are operated by some of the leading names in aviation.
Our partners are experienced in handling large groups at check-in and inflight to ensure your journey goes as smoothly as possible.
Our charter fl ights depart from Gatwick and Manchester, however, we are able to arrange other departure points such as Bristol, Stansted, Luton, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Leeds on request. Please note that supplements may apply.
The average transfer is 2-3 hours. We plan our flights to arrive close together so we can combine our coach transfers efficiently. However, when flights are delayed it may be necessary to hold your transfer for a short while. We may also stop at more than one hotel en route. Seat-belts in other countries are not always required by law and whilst we actively source vehicles with seat belts wherever reasonably possible, we cannot guarantee this in every instance.
Our representatives are on hand to help at departure and arrival. Please ensure you check in 3 hours in advance.
There’s no supplement for Saturday or Sunday flights and travelling on a weekend means you only need to take 5 days off school. This also means you avoid some of the weekend crowds on the slopes.
Free Coach To Airport
We provide a free coach transfer for groups of 40 or more paying passengers from mainland England and Wales to London airports. Please note that we may need to pick up other passengers en route. Please enquire about Manchester and other regional airport departures.
Please keep to the limit because excess charges can be high. Unless stated otherwise on your ticket the luggage allowance is 20kg per person plus hand luggage, which is normally limited to 5kg. Please note that all airlines reserve the right to send skis and excess baggage on later fl ights. Excess baggage will be transferred to resort as soon as possible and we will provide emergency hire equipment if necessary. The luggage allowance may be pooled but this is subject to individual airline conditions.
The charter airlines we use include Jet2, Thomas Cook and Monarch. We also book scheduled seats with carriers such as British Airways. We do, however, reserve the right to use other airlines and destination airports, and to treat London airports as interchangeable.
We also use alternative airlines such as EasyJet and Jet2. These airlines often have different conditions and baggage allowances to other carriers. Please check with us at the time of booking.
Your Names List
A full passenger names list of all group members is now required from schools for all bookings when you pay your fi rst deposits. Names should be exactly as per passport. This list is also submitted to our insurance company to activate your policy including cancellation cover.
Most people take our inclusive hire skis, however, should you wish to take your own a charge may apply – please enquire when booking. Aircraft luggage space is limited so ski carriage is offered subject to availability.
Most airlines do not provide a hot meal service but sandwiches and drinks are usually available at an extra charge onboard your flight.
North American Flights
We offer transatlantic flights with a variety of scheduled airlines including Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, American Airlines, United Airlines, Air Canada, KLM and Air France, using Boeing 747, 767 and Airbus jets.
Our prices are based on special rates for limited allocation on scheduled flights. Once our allocated seats have been filled additional charges will apply, subsequently affecting the selling price of our tours. It is strictly first-come first-served for the lowest tour price. Direct flights will be used wherever possible but cannot be guaranteed.
Prices are based on London departures. Regional departures are available at a supplement and subject to availability. Some of our fl ights operate via Paris or Amsterdam. We will endeavour to accommodate your preferred travel and departure day requests as far as possible, however, our airlines generally do not release flight allocations, timing or routes until around 11 months in advance.
For New England resorts you will fl y to either New York or Boston. Flight times to the east coast are around 7 hours and London departures are generally around midday, returning on an evening flight and arriving back in the UK the following morning.
Flights to San Francisco or Los Angeles are provided for our Californian resorts, and Las Vegas for Brian Head.
In Europe we provide a full door to door service, taking your group from school to your hotel on executive coaches with air suspension, reclining seats, toilet, drink making facilities, stereo and TV systems. The coach is yours to use throughout the week, subject to EU drivers hours regulations, meaning maximum flexibility and convenience throughout your stay.
Coach travel is convenient and supervision is easy: you leave school in the afternoon or evening and travel overnight on autoroutes to your hotel. There are plenty of refreshment stops and the reclining seats mean you can get some sleep. Your coach stays with you for the full week to carry out all your transfers and excursions.
All drivers are fully aware of their responsibilities and of the special nature of school travel. There will always be two drivers for the journey, and of course all our ski courses operate within the current European regulations relating to drivers’ hours. We will provide you with guidance notes on the permitted drivers’ hours applicable to your itinerary in your Information Pack.
Your coach will be modern, well serviced and clean. All are equipped for winter and have reclining seats, seatbelts, radio/music system, WC, booster heating and drinks. TV/DVD players are provided but are not guaranteed, and no refund will be given if a video/DVD player develops a technical fault. Coach capacity is 49 seats although 53 and 55 seated coaches are occasionally available at a supplementary charge.
We can arrange double-decker or longer, single deck, high capacity vehicles for larger groups.
These are intended for emergency use only and we strongly recommend that motorway facilities are used instead. There will be frequent stops en-route.
Luggage space is limited so for your comfort and convenience, we ask party members to pack only one small overnight bag for inside the coach, and one soft, medium-sized bag for the luggage space.
Crossing The Channel
We work with all the cross channel companies. P&O Ferries and DFDS take 90mins from Dover to Calais, and provide a welcome break to stretch legs and do a little shopping. All prices are based on ferry crossings from Dover to Calais. If you wish to travel by Eurotunnel a supplement may be payable. The Eurotunnel embarks north of Folkestone and disembarks south of Calais only 35mins later. We always request crossing times to suit you best but can’t confi rm until timetables are available.
No Small Party Supplement with our Coach Shares
We recognise that it can be difficult to achieve the minimum party size of 40 full paying passengers. We are therefore able to offer small parties up to a maximum of 22 full paying members (25 in total) the opportunity to travel with us at no supplement (free supervisory places are still applicable) on the following peak season dates only:
26th December 2014, 13th February 2015, 27th March 2015 and onwards until 5th April 2015.
To take advantage of this offer you will need to be fl exible within your tour arrangements in respect of the allocation of both resort and accommodation, which ultimately will be at our choice. You must also travel on a standard 9 day itinerary, sharing a coach with another school travelling to the same resort or area.
Please note that your resort may be subject to change and extra travel may be included to collect the other party. The coach may also not necessarily remain with you in your ski resort.
With a choice of ferry or Eurotunnel crossings, we aim to get you to the continent quickly and without fuss. Our tour itineraries are based on a Dover – Calais crossing, but we also offer the speedier option of travelling on Eurotunnel for a small supplement, or alternative ferry routes should you prefer.
The Eurostar service, combined with short overseas transfers to your resort, gives a school to resort option as quick as flying and with a fraction of the carbon footprint. Available Saturday – Saturday with day travel, or Friday – Friday for overnight journeys, the ‘snow train’ is a great alternative to flying. Le Corbier, La Plagne and Tignes are the resorts best served by Eurostar.
We believe the travel insurance policy we offer is one of the best available. In the unfortunate event of a claim, our suppliers in resort are familiar with our policy and procedures, which makes for a smoother operation at a stressful time. You must however check that our policy provides sufficient cover for your particular needs.

The supervision of students remains the responsibility of a Party Leader at all times. We therefore respectfully ask that our staff are not asked to undertake supervisory duties and no issue is made when they politely decline any such request. Our staff should not be left as the sole adult present with your group and a Party Leader should ensure that a group supervisory adult is present at all times where alternative formal supervisory arrangements (e.g. under the care of a Ski Instructor during ski lessons) are not in place, such as ‘free ski’ times. It is therefore also the responsibility of a Party Leader to undertake a Roll Call regularly to check that all students can be accounted for at all times.
