Set in the beautiful Austrian Alps, an hour from Salzburg airport, the Amade is a huge ski expanse. This network of 29 resorts brings guaranteed snow and a host of local ski instructors to give expert guidance on the best slopes.
Our groups rate the huge Salzburger Sportwelt resort as the best ski area for schools, with our hotels near Radstadt, Wagrain and Eben all giving easy access to the slopes. Wherever you choose to base yourselves, there’s plenty to look forward to in the evenings, from quizzes and ice-skating to slides and whirlpools in the two local waterparks.
One ski pass gives you access to the entire 29 resorts. Runs in the local ski areas are graded as blue or red, giving your students lots of scope for improving, while testing blacks offer something to aim for.

-
Eben
Known as ‘the People’s Mountain’, Eben gives the perfect introduction to skiing. Beginners’ lifts and designated learning zones help first-timers find their feet, while confident teens can challenge themselves on the self-timing speed run. Pretty and peaceful, Eben village is typically Austrian and perfect for a relaxing school trip.
-
Radstadt
In central Amadé, this popular resort has lots to offer school groups, both on and off the pistes, with modern lifts and wide slopes that flow over a variety of terrains for all levels. The historic town is always a hit with students, thanks to its pretty streets and horse-drawn sleighs, plus there’s an ice rink for anyone with energy left to burn.
-
Altenmarkt
Altenmarkt’s family-friendly vibe fits well with school groups, and the unspoilt village has everything on hand, from bakeries to chemists. Up on the slopes, learners can practice their snowploughs on gentle pistes, while improvers can zig-zag down the blues and reds. The wave pool and free-fall slides in Therme Amadé aqua park will have everyone speeding back down at the end of the day.
-

A championship ski ground and former World Cup host, Zauchensee attracts professional skiers and new skiers alike. The varied slopes promise diverse ski days and holds plenty of room for progression, while modern lifts and cable cars maximise your time on the mountain.

-
Wagrain
Fast lifts whisk you around a ski area with breath-taking views and a great choice of runs. Novices can look forward to lots of easy blues, while improvers can tackle the ski circuit and draw inspiration from local skier Hermann Maier – one of the finest alpine ski racers in history – who used to practice on Wagrain’s slopes.
-
Flachau
Sitting pretty in a tree-lined valley, Flachau is an attractive resort with a well-respected ski area. The impressive lift system and gentle nursery slopes help to ease new skiers in, while there’s plenty to inspire confident individuals, with a timed speed zone and the Hermann Maier World Cup run. Off the slopes, there’s a lots of amenities to keep students entertained.

end faq
Stayed as part of a secondary school trip with a load of kids, and must say it was an ideal hotel / resort. The hotel is about 200 meters from the chair lifts and drag lift. It is possible to ski back to the hotel.
