Located in the east of France, on the borders with Switzerland and Italy, the French Alps are the home to Western Europe’s highest mountain, Mont Blanc, and a staggering number of ski areas. Twice the host venue of the Winter Olympics, in 1968 and 1992, and boasting a host of world-famous resorts, the Alps are easily accessible - being served by numerous international airports and offering some of the shortest journeys from the UK.
The area also has a distinct regional culture, quite different to other parts of the country. The Haute Savoie region is one of the most beautiful in France, famed for its lake and mountain scenery, numerous spa towns and a laid back rural lifestyle.
