School ski holidays in Kaprun

Lots of skiing for all levels with over 130kms of pistes and a wonderful, traditional village.

Situated at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, and at the centre of the Europa Sport Region, Kaprun is a charming, picturesque village with lots of Tyrolean charm. The Europa Sport area is made up of Kaprun and Zell am See and together they offer over 130km of piste meaning there’s plenty of terrain to explore and a terrific variety of skiing. The snow-sure glacier slopes are ideal for beginners and intermediates and combined with a wide variety of bars and restaurants, Kaprun has lots to offer on and off the piste.

The range of skiing in and around Kaprun is truly incredible. Beginners start on the gentle nursery slopes which are found on the Lechnerberg beside the village centre. The local ski school here is superb meaning groups will quickly gain confidence and will soon progress onto the numerous easy runs on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. There is also the opportunity to ski Maiskogel, a smaller area on the outskirts of the village which is served by its own gondola and is best suited to novices and intermediates.

Access to the glacier is easy as it just a 15-20 minute bus ride away. The views from the top of the cable car station are breathtaking and are not to be missed! The snow conditions here are consistently excellent thanks to the high altitude and there are wonderful wide-open slopes which are perfect for novices, experts and every other level of skier. Intermediates especially will have a great time here whilst advanced skiers will relish the contrast of open piste and the amazing powder of the glacier bowl. For experts there are seven challenging black runs throughout the area including some exhilarating pistes on Zell am See’s Schmittenhöhe Mountain. There is a regular ski bus to Zell am See but the Maiskogel also has some great off piste on powder days.

Although smaller than its neighbour Zell am See, Kaprun offers a good choice of après ski including bars, restaurants and shops as well as a bowling alley and sports centre. The village itself has a traditional atmosphere and still has a castle, the imposing 'Burg Kaprun' which hosts many events throughout the year. All in all this is a fantastic resort.
