School ski holidays in Le Corbier

The 4th biggest ski area in France. 310kms linked by piste and lift! Ski to the terrace of our excellent ClubHotel.

Designed in the '60s by the famous modernist architect Le Corbusier and named after him, Le Corbier started life as one of those medium sized 3rd generation resorts with 75km of purpose-built skiing with the accent on convenience. However, now that the pass includes La Toussuire, St Sorlin d'Arves and St Colomban it has become a magnificent ski area of over 310 km, which can hold its own with household-name resorts with a big price tag.

The snow record is excellent. The village is at 1550m, the top station is at 2600m, and there's plenty of snow cannons. The main thing about any purpose-built resort is the quality of the skiing. None of the areas disappoint but the Le Corbier part is exceptional for schools. Beginners have plenty of easy slopes on good snow and the Ski School is brilliant. Keen intermediates can enjoy enormous blue runs which give dramatic views and that exciting sense of journey. Advanced skiers revel in the huge mileage and variety.

Le Corbier has easy links with La Toussuire which has mostly intermediate skiing in an enormous bowl. There's a blue run and an easy red run back, and beginners can take the chair lift if they prefer. The 75km at St Sorlin d'Arves and St Colomban link by piste and lift as well and the link has recently been improved.

A fast 6 man chair now shoots you up from the centre of Le Corbier directly to the St Sorlin link.

No-one could describe Le Corbier as an eyeful of classic chocolate box charm. No doubt Le Corbusier had something else in mind. It's uncompromising and stark, with an arrestingly dramatic setting which the daring architecture somehow enhances. It's also practical and convenient. Vehicles park outside the traffic-free village which curves around the foot of the mountain so that the nursery slopes run right up to the wooden decking. It's also safe, easy to use, well equipped and noticeably friendly. Most of the shops and cafés in the piste-front gallery have been run by the same families since the resort opened.

The ClubHotel Le Mont Corbier is one of our best and has a great location. The coach deposits passengers at the front and the pistes are out the back! The convenience factor also extends to the airport transfer. From Turin, you can go through the Frejus tunnel to St Jean de Maurienne, up the mountain and be in the hotel within 2 hours.

Village Facts

Convenient, safe and traffic free with a warm and friendly atmosphere. There is something organised every week, like tournaments, races and shows all within the arcade fronting the slopes. The village is fairly quiet but has everything you need.
