A meticulously kept ski area with a superb lift system and powerful snowmaking. An ideal choice for schools preferring to take the snowcoach option.
Everyone who skis here, comes back with rave reports. Andalo has a medium sized ski area of superb quality, and some good judges rate it higher than many household-name resorts costing considerably more. There is fantastic variety and the lift system is first class; modern, swift and well organised. The lift company continually invest and the snowmaking and grooming rank with the best in the Dolomites. 2 chairs were recently added and 4 pistes remodelled and widened, and the chair from the village replaced with a high speed gondola.
It's always been a very good choice for schools. There's plenty for beginners, progression is first class, and keen intermediates should be able to manage virtually all of it before the end of the week. That gives a tremendous sense of achievement. In addition, because it's so self-contained, supervision is easy and there's no concern about children getting lost or straying into a ski area that may be too difficult for them.
Beginners have excellent nursery areas both in the village and at the mid station, where the snow is always good, but for developing skiers, this system really comes into its own. The full spectrum of intermediates are catered for in abundance. There's plenty of excitement and spectacle on the reds and blues which have no flat spots or unpleasant surprises. Advanced skiers have fabulous off-piste and some mogul runs on the reds at the top. A new black run has recently been opened as well.
Our groups stay in Molveno, an attractive and wellequipped village with lots of character and a spectacular setting overlooking a valley and lake.
