A traditional Dolomite ski village, great for beginners and early-intermediates. Very good value and extremely convenient. You ski straight to the hotel terrace.
Foppolo is purpose-built, snowsure and convenient but it's also nicely worn in and has a good atmosphere. It is one of the smaller ski resorts in Italy but still has access to 65kms of downhill piste. The ski resort itself is above 1500m so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible and with skiing over 2000m the snow cover is generally reliable. Many of the runs end in resort, right at the terrace of our hotel in fact, and there's a 4 person chair lift right opposite.
This resort is suited to all levels of skier. There are ample nursery slopes to help beginners get their confidence and most of the skiing is above the trees on wide and uncrowded runs which are great for practicing turns. There are a variety of intermediate runs to satisfy the more experienced skier and two considerable snow bowls provide exciting high level skiing for mileage hungry intermediates. Advanced skiers will enjoy the challenging Valgussera area with a superb black run back to the village.
Recent modernisations have seen significant improvements including the addition of some powerful snow cannons and drag lifts being converted to chairs. The lift pass also includes the nearby ski areas of Corona and San Simone which open up a wide range of opportunities for beginner and intermediate skiers. San Simone is a small purpose-built ski station which is connected by a short ski bus transfer of just 15/20 mins and is particularly good for beginners. Overall the variety of runs on offer mean that the resort provides stimulating runs for skiers of all abilities and we now rate Foppolo as one of the best value packages in our brochure.
Foppolo is friendly and unpretentious with a good mix of après ski and shops. The original old village is about 10/15 mins walk down the hill and at the weekends a chair lift links both parts. Foppolo offers enough to do in the evenings with plenty of restaurants and bars and it's easy to supervise school parties.
