Small but perfectly formed school ski resort that is ideal for beginners and novices with excellent and easy progression on a range of long, gentle slopes.
We can't think of many places more suitable for first year skiers than this small purpose-built resort located just 80 miles from Verona. Spiazzi is a classic school ski resort that is simply perfect for first timers and it offers excellent progression on good snow.
The village itself is safe and traffic free and due to its size it's also easy to supervise meaning that this is a great resort for groups. The nursery area is right in the centre of the village, safely away from the main runs with a 150m slow drag feeding a very gentle run. This easy run returns to the village centre and a chair lift to the rest of the slopes. Our family-run hotel could not be in a better position as it is located directly at the bottom of the nursery slope thus offering maximum convenience. The ski-pass office and ski school are located just across the square.
At the top of the area is a fantastic beginners' area with a baby drag. Once this area has been mastered there are a number of intermediate runs back to resort. These runs tend to be both long and wide and so are excellent for practicing turns and building confidence. One of the highlights is a sweeping easy blue, which gives beginners a long and satisfying journey that can be skied time and time again. The length of the runs is one of the main features of this resort and almost all of the skiing is protected from white-outs and high winds by tall, thick forest but there's also a sunny snow-sure bowl above the trees.
We have been delighted with our welcome to the resort and feel confident that Spiazzi will continue to work well for Equity School groups. The nearby medieval village of Gromo is also well worth a visit.
