School ski holidays in Les Mosses
Charming resort in the heart of the Alpes Vaudoises. Great location with an excellent snow record - perfect for beginners.
Located at the summit of a mountain pass, Les Mosses enjoys an excellent snow record throughout the winter season. Although the resort has a relatively compact ski area of 50km, its small size makes it an ideal resort for beginners. Les Mosses is also part of the larger Glacier Alpes Vaudoises area which consists of the huge peaks east of Aigle and the Rhône Valley. This area includes the villages of Villars, Les Diablerets and Leysin and is available at a supplement to the normal pass.
Les Mosses offers well-maintained pistes and good snowmaking facilities and overall is a great choice for school ski groups. Nearly all of the skiing takes place on the wide open slopes above the village and supervision is easy as it is virtually impossible for beginners to stray onto anything too testing. The gentle runs are tailor-made for novices who need to build their confidence and practice their turns. The ski school here is first-rate and will soon have everyone mastering the slopes and progressing onto the variety of blue runs available.
Further afield a number of trickier reds replace the gentle blues and there are a number of exciting black runs if you are after something more challenging. Experts might want to test themselves with a day extension to neighbouring Leysin. Snowboarders may also choose to head to Leysin to explore the Freestyle Park although there are two funparks in Les Mosses which should keep most riders occupied for the week.
Les Mosses is typically Swiss with everything built in a traditional chalet style. It has plenty of après ski options available including winter hiking, huskydrawn sledging and ice skating on an outdoor rink. The wide landscapes of Les Mosses also provide the perfect setting for cross country skiing and snowshoe trekking. In our opinion Les Mosses is terrific value and is an excellent way to sample some Swiss delights.
