Forming part of the impressive Escape Killy ski area, Tignes has long been renowned as one of the top ski resorts in France. Linking to the prestigious resort of Val d'Isere, this high altitude resort has huge practical advantages and a fantastic snow record.
There is skiing to suit all abilities in Tignes. From beginner to advanced, there will be a run that offers a challenge. The skiing is split into four areas; La Grande Motte Massif, Le Palet, Le Toviere and Les Brévières and L'Aiguille Percée. There are 47 ski lifts which include a funicular railway, a cable car, 24 chairlifts and 19 drag lifts, enabling you to ski round the 150km of pisted terrain.
There are wide nursery areas at the bottom of the slopes where beginners can practise in a secure environment and gradually progress up the mountain. Intermediates will enjoy the sense of journey as they can ski towards Val d'Isere for a lunch stop and then make their way back on a variety of runs in the afternoon. Advanced skiers are also well catered for with very challenging blacks and mogul runs.
If that is not enough for you, you can choose to upgrade your lift pass (at a supplement) to give access to the Espace Killy, named after France's Olympic downhill skiing champion Jean Claude Killy. It offers over 300kms of pisted skiing and some of Europe's most spectacular scenery.
